Changelog for 0.3.1:

  • Special Thanks.
    • Thank you to Splendid Ostrich (on Patreon), maker of the excellent game New Life, for his suggestion of adding keyboard bindings to the game, for posting about the launch of Sanctuary in Time on his Patreon, and for being so generous w/ his time & advice.
    • Thank you to IndyIdaho & Klsune (on itch) for suggesting a dark interface mode for the game.
  • New Feature: Follower Personalities! Followers now have an extra layer of depth with a variety of personality types that can affect how they respond to events. With the exception of Main Story characters (such as Brianna), who have their personality types hard-coded, each new follower will have a random personality type assigned upon being offered as recruitable. And existing followers in the settlement will similarly be assigned a random personality type, if brought over from a pre-existing save file. You can determine what a follower’s personality type is by the following line of text (when recruiting and/or inspecting): “You see that Brianna Morgyn is a 23 year-old Celtic woman with a confident demeanor.”
    • Shy Personality: A shy individual, prone to blushing, and uncomfortable with nudity.
    • Confident Personality: A confident individual, prone to a self-assured smile, and very comfortable with nudity.
    • Naïve Personality: A naïve individual, prone to looks of uncertainty, and possessing an innocent outlook on nudity.
    • Seductive Personality:  A seductive individual, prone to alluring winks, who enjoys being nude and flaunts it.
  • Updates Related to Follower Personalities: The following areas of the game have been updated to properly reflect the new personality types followers might possess.
    • Follower Management Interface. A new listing has been added in the Follower Management Interface (accessible by clicking ‘Manage’ on a Follower’s Filecard) which displays the Follower’s personality type. It can be found near the bottom, next to ‘Skin Color’.
    • Follower Recruitments. When recruiting a new follower, you can determine their personality type by the following line of text, “You see that Brianna Morgyn is a 23 year-old Celtic woman with a confident demeanor.”
    • Follower Inspections. Now, when you inspect a follower, and request that they undress or re-dress, they will respond in a manner appropriate to their personality type.
    • Side Story Events. The following side story events (narrative events that launch after the weekly turn report) have been updated to display the personality traits of the follower’s participating in them.
      • A follower concerned about their diet progress.
      • A follower concerned about their exercise progress.
      • A follower asks to assist while the player is showering.
      • A follower offers a pleasing distraction from paperwork.
      • A follower offers a ‘proper thank you’ in private, for everything you’ve done.
      • A follower reports to be your personal guard for the night.
      • A follower reports to be your personal attendant for the night.
    • Weekly Activities. The following random weekly activities (as displayed in the weekly turn report) have been added, which reflect the new follower personality traits.
      • For ‘Combat Trainee’ assignment: Player catches sight of trainee showering after a hard training session. Follower notices & responds in manner appropriate to her personality.
      • For ‘Holy Paladin’ assignment: Kneeling by the corpse of a fallen innocent, her usual manner affected by mourning, as she prays.
      • For ‘Temple Priestess’ assignment: Dancing before a group of wealthy patrons, with both her manner and physical attributes holding their rapt attention.
      • For ‘Caretaker’ assignment: Witnessed performing a random, caretaking task, with her usual manner displayed.
  • New Accessibility Feature: Dark / Light Text modes. (As suggested by IndyIdaho & Klsune on itch.) A new option has been added to the Settings Menu which allows players to switch between ‘light’ and ‘dark’ Narrative Text Modes. The ‘light’ mode is the default setting, and displays black text on a white background, while the new ‘dark’ mode displays white text on a black background instead. Note that ‘dark’ mode also enables a whole new interface theme with darkened window backgrounds and white text on buttons and labels. Players can switch between these two modes at any time while the game is running. [Note that some interface text colors have been adjusted to be more readable in both light and dark modes.]
  • New Accessibility Update: Keyboard Bindings. (As suggested by Splendid Ostrich on Patreon.)
    • For Narrative Events. New keyboard bindings have been put in place for Narrative Events (such as Main Story, Side Story, Erotic events etc.) which will allow players to navigate the selectable choices using the arrow keys (up & down) and then make their selections using the Return/Enter key.
    • For Weekly Turn Report. New keyboard bindings have been put in place for the weekly turn report which will allow players to scroll up & down through the report using the arrow keys, plus hit the ‘Continue’ button at the bottom of the screen by pressing the Return/Enter key.
  • New Recruitment Origin: On Trial for Witchcraft! A new origin story is now available for followers being recruited. They can be found in a region of Europe or the American colonies, sometime between the years of 1500 to 1700 (for Europe) or 1662 to 1693 (for American colonies), accused of being a witch (as well as an additional related crime). They’ve been undergoing rounds of torture for some time, but have remained staunchly defiant, and are now being dragged to their execution. According to history, they will die on the same day you glimpse their plight, but you can put a stop it, if you so choose! Includes multiple random elements based on research of the witch trials that took place during the early modern period.
  • Economy Balancing Tweaks:
    • Reduced silver payouts during Side Story events for Strength / Persuasion check failures by 50%. The rewards felt a bit too rewarding on check failures. Now there should be a more stark and noticeable difference between the payouts on check successes vs check failures.
  • Gameplay Balancing Tweaks:
    • Increased healing rate of followers assigned as ‘Patient’ by 15% on ‘Good’ and ‘Excellent’ performance outcomes. Result should be Patients healing & getting back in service a bit faster.
    • Reduced number of turns that will pass between the end of the Main Story and the beginning of an End Game cycle of narrative events. Previous value was 25-30 turns. New value is 15-20 turns. Should result in less of a gap between the Main Story ending and the End Game content beginning. (Only affects a New Game start, not pre-existing saves.)
  • Misc Updates:
    • Replaced text-only URL for Patreon page in application launcher with a clickable hyperlink.
    • Fixed issue in which very long duty assignment names (such as ‘Courtship Trainee’) were being partially cut-off in the Filecard displays at the very smallest App Window Size (1000x600). This could cause the asterisk symbol to not be shown when the usefulness of the current assignment was depleted. Adjusted dimenions of the upper portion of follower Filecards to prevent this from occurring.
    • Fixed issue in which followers with genetically modified ages (via the Gene Lab) were being improperly referred to during narrative events as ‘girl’ or ‘woman’ according to their previous ages, rather than their new ages. Only followers of 19 years or younger should be referred to as ‘girl’, while followers of 20 years or older should be referred to as ‘woman’.
    • Fixed issue in which recruitment origin of Inquisition Trial was not properly generating random forms of imprisonment for prospective followers. Now, random forms of restraint will be produced by the event, instead of just 'hung by her bound wrists in a public square, the rope leading to an elevated winch’.
    • Updated the text displayed for selectable choices in erotic sidestory events which depict a follower reporting to serve as your personal guard or personal attendant throughout the night. Previous choices were not as clear as they could be, and could lead to confusion. The updated text for choices should now be more transparent as to what the consequences are for selecting them.
    • Correction made in Tutorial topic ‘Health & Devotion of Followers’ which incorrectly stated, “...asking a follower to Build more muscle (via their exercise regimen) requires a Devotion level of ‘Trusting’....” The prerequisite was previously ‘Trusting’, but is now ‘Accepting’. So the information was out-of-date. To prevent this from being an issue in the future, the text has been updated to now read,  “...asking a follower to Build more muscle (via their exercise regimen) requires a certain level of Devotion....”
